Acceptance By accessing researchsea.com ("the website") you confirm acceptance of these terms and conditions.


ResearchSEA management reserves the right to cancel registered access of any user immediately if we believe you have not complied with these terms and conditions.

Use of the ResearchSEA website The management of ResearchSEA grants you use of the website on the condition that you will not use the website or information contained in the website for any purpose that is unlawful, and you will not abuse the site or other users.

You agree that you will not hold ResearchSEA liable for direct, indirect or consequential loss, damages or expense, to the extent permitted by law, incurred or suffered by you as a result of any matter arising from, or related to, the information on this website.

User Registration Users are encouraged to register with ResearchSEA through the Registration Page.

If you register:

  • You may apply to receive e-mail alerts;
  • You may submit details of Events of interest to the research community and the media.

You must take all reasonable steps to ensure that your personal username and password are not used by anyone else and you agree not to use the website for any unlawful or immoral purpose nor to upload files or information that may damage the operation of the computer, website or property of another.

Journalist Registration Registration of journalist accounts is subject to approval by ResearchSEA management. You will be required to produce satisfactory evidence of your journalistic qualifications and you warrant that all information provided by you for the purpose of registering with ResearchSEA is accurate and complete.

Only registered journalists have access to embargoed stories. Registered journalists must comply with the embargo conditions and not release the story until the embargo has expired. Any user identified as breaking terms and conditions of the embargo will be removed from the ResearchSEA user list.

Contributing Institutions Contributing Institutions must apply for an annual subscription package upon ResearchSEA's current terms set out in the Subscription Application - link.

Upon acceptance by ResearchSEA Contributing Institutions are entitled (according to their level of subscription) to:

(a) List and provide information and contact details for their Institution;
(b) Post Press Releases containing research news, announcements, events and articles;
(c) List Experts in fields of research relevant to the Contributing Institution;
(d) Appoint and register Contributors from the staff of the Contributing Institution.

Contributor Registration Registration of contributors is subject to approval by ResearchSEA management. You will be required to produce satisfactory evidence of your appointment and qualifications and you warrant that all information provided by you for the purpose of registering with ResearchSEA is accurate and complete.

The first Contributor to be registered from a Contributing Institution will be regarded as the primary Contributor for that institution and will be responsible for qualifying the registration of further authorised Contributors and Experts for the institution.

Expert Registration Experts put forward by a Contributing Institution must confirm the accuracy of their personal details and qualifications and approve their publication on the Website; contact details are made available only to registered journalists.

Content As a Registered User you may download and print extracts from material appearing on the Website ("the material") and make copies for your own personal and non-commercial use only. You must not reproduce any part of the Website or the material or transmit it to or store it in any other website or disseminate any part of the material in any other form.

As a Registered Journalist you may use, reproduce and distribute the material as part of your professional journalism, provided that you respect and acknowledge all copyright in the material and attribute its source.

You acknowledge that the use and interpretation of the Website material of require skill and judgement. You must at all times exercise your own skill and judgement in the use and the interpretation of the Website material and will be solely responsible for the purposes for which it is used and for all opinions, recommendations, forecasts and other comments made or action taken based wholly or partly on the Website material.

The Website material is supplied without representation, warranty, condition or other term as to the quality of the material or its usefulness or fitness for any purpose, and any implied term is expressly excluded. You must not use the Website material except as permitted under these terms and conditions, or for any illegal or unlawful purpose, or so as to bring ResearchSEA or its business, products or services into disrepute.

Liability ResearchSEA shall not be liable for any damage arising, directly or indirectly, from the use of the material appearing on this website including damages arising from inaccuracies, omissions or errors. ResearchSEA cannot accept any responsibility or liability for any infection, damage or loss of data as a result of downloading and using data from this website. Any person relying on any of the information contained on this web site or making any use of the information contained herein, shall do so at their own risk.

(Save and except for death or personal injury arising from our negligence) ResearchSEA hereby disclaims any liability and shall not be held liable for any damages including, without limitation, direct, indirect or consequential damages including loss of revenue, loss of profit, loss of opportunity or other loss.

Links and Advertising ResearchSEA provides hypertext links to external websites for information purposes only. ResearchSEA does not monitor the content of these web sites and does not accept any responsibility or liability for any such linked websites or their content.

ResearchSEA is not responsible for the content of advertising material, including, without limitation, any mistake or inaccuracy therein. All responsibility rests exclusively with the advertisers.

Submission of information ResearchSEA administration reviews all submissions to the website and has the authority to exclude any content which does not meet its requirements. This includes but is not limited to contributors, journalists, public registration, experts listed in Ask an Expert, press releases, announcements and events calendar items.

Information submitted by any registered user to the website is accepted subject to the following terms and conditions.

As a Contributor submitting material on behalf of your Contributing Institution you authorise ResearchSEA in its discretion to edit and take extracts from the content of the material; to publish, reproduce, translate, distribute, display and store the material throughout the world; and to authorise others to do so; and you accept that ResearchSEA has the right in its discretion to exclude any material from the Website. You warrant that:

  • you have explicit permission and authority to submit the material upon these terms and conditions;
  • you or your Contributing Institution owns the copyright of the submitted material and has licensed ResearchSEA to publish and distribute the information;
  • If the work or material of others is included, you have obtained the necessary consent and copyright permission for use and distribution by ResearchSEA;
  • all material submitted to the Website is accurate and not offensive, malicious, libellous or unlawful;
  • you will apply up-to-date anti-virus procedures and otherwise use your best endeavours to ensure that no virus, spyware or other undesirable software is introduced to the Website.

ResearchSEA will not be responsible for any content submitted by users to the site, including but not limited to registered contributors, institutions, journalists and members of the public. Responsibility rests solely on the Contributor and/or Contributing Institution which submitted the material.

Data Protection and Privacy Policy ResearchSEA is firmly committed to protecting the privacy of its users. We undertake to comply fully with the United Kingdom Data Protection Act (1998). ResearchSEA collects the following information:

  1. Individual information from contributors, journalists and the public.
  2. Aggregated statistics, which we use to monitor the overall activity of the website.
  3. Information provided during submission of content including experts listed in Ask an Expert, press releases, announcements and events calendar items.

If you have a contributor account, some information from the registration form may be displayed in the public area of the site. For journalists and contributors, the name of the company/publication/institution that you work for may be listed on our website and used for our marketing purposes. All experts registered in Ask an Expert must approve their details according to the experts registration form. Contact information will only be available to registered journalists. Other details including the expert's name, affiliated institution and expertise will be available to the public.

If you have indicated that you wish to receive email updates or marketing communications from ResearchSEA, your personal details will be included on databases compiled for those specific purposes. If you subsequently change your mind, you can just go to My Account and edit your preferences. Alternatively you can notify ResearchSEA at info@researchsea.com and we will remove your name from the relevant database as soon as practicable.

We will never share individual information about a user with a third party without the user's permission. We reserve the right to divulge individual information to act in accordance with the law and to manage our organisation. Due to the international nature of the business, personal data collected by ResearchSEA may be transferred out of the European Economic Area (EEA). By providing data to ResearchSEA the owner consents to transfer of the data out of the EEA.

Cookies We use cookies as part of our normal business procedure to monitor patterns of behaviour of visitors to the website. Currently we only use session cookies that are stored on your computer whilst you are accessing our website but are not stored after the browser is shut down.

Amendments ResearchSEA reserves the right to update or amend these terms and conditions at any time and your continued use of the website following any changes shall be deemed to be your acceptance of such a change. The latest revision date is given at the start of these terms and conditions.

Governing Law & Jurisdiction These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England and all users hereby submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
