Innovation thought leader, Dr. Ogan Gurel, to join DGIST faculty as Distinguished Invited Professor in the Management of Innovation program

South Korea's Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST) to further advance its leadership role fostering regional innovation and global collaboration.

DGIST has appointed Dr. Ogan Gurel, a globally recognized thought leader in innovation, as Distinguished Invited Professor in the Management of Innovation (MOI) program. Prof. Kong-rae Lee, Program Director, remarked, "DGIST plays a critical and catalytic role in building and advancing the regional startup and venture community and we are very excited to have Dr. Gurel join us to further this important mission."

Previously, Dr. Gurel held roles as a Director in the CTO office and Open Innovation Group at the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT), Senior Advisor for Innovation at DRB, Chief Innovation Officer at Campus D, Vice President & Medical Director at Sg2 and an Associate at Booz, Allen & Hamilton. He has also served as an advisor and Chief Medical Officer to numerous innovative startups worldwide. With MD and MPhil degrees from the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, a BA from Harvard University, and extensive teaching, research, and publication experience at leading institutions in the United States, Asia, Australia, and Europe, Dr. Gurel also brings deep experience and extensive contacts in academia. Dr. Sang Hyuk Son, President of DGIST and a Fellow of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology, commented: "DGIST has been growing rapidly as a world-leading science and engineering university where excellence in research, the nurturing of top global talent, and a focus on industrial development are key pillars for the institute’s continuing success. Dr. Gurel’s appointment is aligned with this mission and I warmly welcome him to the DGIST family."
