After, he worked for 10 years as a researcher at AT&T Bell lab and 27 years as a physics professor at Seoul National University. A prominent nano-scientist who has led research for 40 years, he has served as the Chairman of Samsung Science & Technology Foundation, the largest private scientific research funding organization, since 2014.

At AT&T Bell Lab, President Young Kuk became one of the leading nano-scientists by developing Scanning Tunneling Microscope (STM) that can observe atoms.
